About This Winery
Collier Falls has two Family Wineries Tasting Room locations: one in Kenwood and the other in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County. Barry Collier founded Family Wineries Tasting Rooms to bring several boutique, family-owned wineries together. It’s a chance for guests to taste a broad variety of styles from six different wineries all in one room. Collier Falls has been pouring alongside our fellow friends and vintners in Sonoma County since 2005.
The vineyard is farmed 20 acres in the northwest corner of Dry Creek Valley at elevations exceeding 1,000 feet. These steep vineyards of rocky, clay soil produce mountain fruit with great color, character and intensity, which happens to be exactly what winemakers love to craft: distinctive, hillside estate wines. Collier Falls’ vineyards also sit above the fog line. So while morning fog cools the valley floor, their hillside fruit enjoys plenty of sunshine, thus creating an ideal temperature balance for the grapes.
Natural springs and creeks in the mountains of Dry Creek Valley create the 30-foot waterfall that inspired the name Collier Falls. Just a few steps south of the hillside Zinfandel vineyards, the dense forest suddenly transforms into this beautiful scenic attraction. The waterfall runs year round, and at its peak during the rainy season it spills over 5 million gallons of water per day. Each year, steelhead trout arrive here to spawn. The water creates Fall Creek and feeds into Dry Creek, which flows into the Russian River, and connects to the Pacific Ocean.
Both tasting rooms are open daily and feature charming picnic grounds with beautiful Wine Country views. Visitors will also find imported giftware from France, unique antiques, and a wide selection of gourmet grocery items like olive oils, mustards, and wine-infused chocolate sauces. Collier Falls welcomes visitors to come taste their idyllic wine and admire the beautiful waterfall.↑ Less
