About This Winery
+ More
The Baldacci family purchased their Stags Leap vineyard in 1997 fulfilling a life long dream to grow and produce their own limited production wines. Their flagship wine is the powerful and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon.
As descendants of Italian immigrants, the family is not new to wine making. With origins dating back to 1916, the Baldacci vineyard boasts soils that are proven to grow excellent quality grapes. The winery’ produces three different estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Also made is a Napa Valley Syrah, a Pinot Noir with grapes sourced from the Carneros region, and a Russian River Gewürztraminer.
According to the winemaker, Rolando Herrera, the winemaking style is to make wines with silky, velvety texture and great character – no monster tannins. “My charge is to make the best wine possible while respecting the vineyard site and its terroir,” he said.
The winery sits up against a hillside where wine caves have been carved out and refilled with barrels full of wine. The tasting room has a patio out in front with tables and umbrellas. Further down the walkway is a new landscaped terrace that overlooks the vineyard. The small beige colored wood sided tasting room has tile floors and granite countertops. There are wine accessories for sale and an attentive staff.
