About This Winery
+ More
One mile from the mountain town of Placerville is the beautiful estate winery of Boeger, with lovely new visitor facilities, gorgeous vineyards, tasty rich wines and a exceptional picnic area.
The new tasting room and visitor area is quite spacious, with a rock-wall front, stained concrete floors, and lots of wood accents inside. There is a well-stocked deli case and a nice gift shop. Outside are redwood trees and a park-like area.
For more than 35 years, the winery has been producing wines in the region, being one of the state’s first producers to make a varietal Merlot. Boeger has dozens of wines, but is best known for its Barbera and its “Hangtown Red” blend. A sweet Muscat is also produced.
Boeger Winery has 55 acres of producing vineyard at the 70-acre home estate. The winery also leases or manages another 40 acres within the county. The terrain of the vineyards is characterized by steep hillsides, rocky soils, every exposure, and numerous microclimates. Over 30 different varietals are grown.
