Up a winding road, deep in a mountain forest of oaks, sits the Fantesca Estate & Winery. A mission-style adobe winery sits in the middle of 54 acres of fine old trees and receives grapes from 10 acres of rolling vines. This pastoral place is where Susan and Duane Hoff retired from building up Best Buy to run a limited-production winery. They produce only 3000 cases annually of Russian River Pinot Noir, Russian River Chardonnay, a Bordeaux blend, and their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. World-renowned winemaker, Heidi Barrett of Screaming Eagle and Grace Family wines fame, makes all of Fantesca’s wines. With pastoral grounds and the winemaking at Fantesca Estate Winery in expert hands, the ambiance of both the wine tasting and simply enjoying the beautiful surroundings is very relaxing.

You can taste their wine on their wooden deck, where they have a specially tented picnic table that provides just the right amount of shade with flowing transparent cloth. This is after a pleasant stroll along a wide wooden road that traverses the steep, sunlit mountainside.

At $100 per person, the tasting fee is on the high-end Napa tasting rooms. They will waive the fee when you purchase six or more wines from them. If a $100 wine tasting fee is within your means, you will find this is one of the top experiences in all of Napa. The tasting room staff is incredible. They combine in-depth knowledge about the estate with a warmth that is rarely found in tasting room settings these days. That is what truly sets Fantesca Winery apart from your other tasting options.

Consider bringing some snacks along with you and setting up a picnic alongside the idyllic vineyard. That will allow you to extend your stay a bit! You will not want to leave once you are there.
