About This Winery

Beaulieu Vineyards (BV) holds the honor of producing wine without interruption the longest of any Napa Valley winery. It had a major impact on the industry by introducing small oak barrels for aging wine in the early 1900s. Today the winery produces several award-winning varieties from its wide holdings in the Rutherford, Napa Valley and the Carneros region. It also produces limited quantities of specialty wines such as Muscat and Sangiovese.
Founded in 1900 by Georges de Latour, BV is one of Napa Valley’s important wineries. The French-born de Latour bought an old winery and created his beaulieu, which is French for “beautiful place.” The winery stayed open during Prohibition by making sacramental wines, while most others were forced to close.
Beulieu Vineyards has always been focused on innovation and stewardship. The winery is committed to sustainable farming and wine making practices. They also are vital members of the the local Napa Valley community and beyond.
The square stone tasting room, with its Spanish tile roof, is adjacent to the winery building and located behind a busy local restaurant. Once inside, the hospitality of the tasting room staff takes over as they pour many of their Appellation Series wines. Down the spiral staircase is a well-stocked gift store with many wine accessories and gifts.
For a more upscale experience, cross the parking lot to the newly renovated Reserve Room. Here warm woods, a rock wall and older vintages are featured. Look into the library area for a peek at some of the real old “monsters” from the past. Wines range in price from $15 to $25 for the Appellation Selections, and over $100 for some of the Reserve Selections.
The tour of the historic winery is a can’t miss. A knowledgeable guide will take you through the winery that was built in 1885. Learn the history of the winery and the Napa Valley. This is followed by a barrel tasting.
