Vinebox Wine Club: Overview
We decided it was time to write a review of the Vinebox wine club. First off, it is undeniable that when compared to other wine clubs, Vinebox offers a very unique experience. This wine club is definitely a great choice if you are excited about expanding your palate and exploring different wine regions.
The truly unique part about Vinebox is the delivery method. You receive a glass worth of nine different wines in each shipment. Shipment are sent each quarter, so you will enjoy 36 glasses of wine per year.
Now, you might not be completely sold on the idea at first. Maybe you don’t tend to drink one glass of wine at a time? Here's the hook...the wine variety you get is off the charts when compared to most "wine of the month" style clubs. This club replicates the joys of wine tasting. But it is done in your home. And, if you love one of the wines you taste, you can purchase a full bottle on their site.
The wine you get is perfectly preserved in Vinebox's proprietary tubes. Thanks to their closed nitrogen system, you won’t have to worry about the precious drinks going bad. The wine itself is handpicked by a sommelier to ensure the quality of the wine is top-notch. You can be confident you’re not getting anything you would stumble upon in the supermarket. Vinebox proudly notes that only 1% out the wine that’s taste-tested makes the cut. This ensures that your box is filled with only “hidden gems” you couldn’t experience otherwise.
You’ll be prompted to answer a few questions when signing up for their service. They ask for you to specify if you’d like red wines only, mixed or just white. You’ll also be able to choose between getting their boxes sent quarterly and simply opting out for a one-time payment of their current release, in case you don’t want to commit to multiple shipments just yet.
Vinebox Review - The Prices
When it comes to prices, you’ll be able to choose if you’d like to be billed annually ($72 per box) or quarterly ($79 per box), all including the shipping. A nice feature for club members is the quarterly credit towards bottle purchases. If you are on the annual plan, you receive a $30 credit. Members on the quarterly plan receive a $15 credit each quarter. When you love one of the "by the glass" wines, the credits make a bottle purchase that much easier!
Feel like trying one box before deciding? You can order a "one time only" box that will cost you $87 for nine wines. This option doesn’t include any special benefits or store credits.
It’s good to note that when it comes to the quarterly shipments, you can choose two shipments per quarter if you have another person interested in Vinebox. By ordering two shipments, you receive a 10% discount off the quarterly price. We like that Vinebox gives you various ways to keep your costs down.
If you decide to take a look around their website, you’ll notice that they also do some very fun and interesting seasonal boxes. These explore different wine regions, varietals or wine styles. One example is the Bordeaux Vertical. This box teaches you how a flavor profile of the very same wine subtly changes with different vintages. We plan to write a Vinebox review specifically about these specialty boxes soon.
Most importantly, Vinebox is very flexible and comfortable with giving their customers full control, as you can choose to cancel your order any time.
Vinebox Review - Customer Service
If you end up with a damaged product, Vinebox’s customer service will be happy to replace the shipment. They only ask that you provide photos of the damage. They do not offer refunds or replacements if you don't enjoy a particular wine.
We like the fact that real wine club members can leave a Vinebox review right on the Vinebox site. It appears that these are not curated, because there are some very honest reviews of the Vinebox wine club. We appreciate this transparency.
Vinebox Review - Conclusion / How To Join
This brings our Vinebox review to an end. If you’ve always wanted to be more adventurous and explore different flavors with your wine, reading through this article probably reinforced your impression that this wine club might be the top pick. On the other hand, if you’re someone that wants more quantity to back up the quality without bothering to buy full bottles in their store, giving their service a test run with a one-time purchase could be a good start before going any further.
