Why should you visit Epoch Wines for wine tasting?
There is an estate just west of Paso Robles that contains 570 acres of steep limestone hills, sweeping vistas, and proud oak forest. Nestled within this tumble of hills is 68 acres of premium vineyards. At the turn of the last century, it belonged to a famous Polish pianist and diplomat by the name of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, but he ultimately passed on and this gorgeous estate fell into disuse. Then, the owners of Epoch Wines saw this strip of wilderness and fell in love. They bought it in 2004 and carefully grafted a variety of clones onto the withering vines, tenderly bringing the grapes to fruition. They planted a patchwork of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvédre, Petite Sirah, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Grenache Blanc, and Picpoul Blanc in the calcareous soil and let them ripen under the cool breeze from the Pacific Ocean and the brilliant sun. Today, Epoch Wines creates limited runs of lovingly crafted wines from these specially cared for grapes.
Visiting their historic tasting room is just as much of a treat as the views of their vineyards. Tastefully appointed leather love seats sit under exposed wooden beams here, creating a rustically luxurious vibe. You can look out on their patio and tree-filled yard through the wall length windows while sipping their flight of 5 wines. Even better, you can sit in one of their Adirondack chairs under the bright Paso Robles’ sun with a glass of your favorite wine.
If that sounds like fun and you have a group smaller than 6 people waiting to go, you can make an appointment online on their website. If more than 6 people want to join you, use their phone number to book a reservation.
Epoch Wines dotes on their Estate and believes that their wines express their love. Should you be in the area, be sure to make an appointment to see why they feel that way.
