About This Winery
+ More
Hall St. Helena Winery, a historic Napa Valley winery originally founded in 1885 as Bergfeld Winery, was long known as the Napa Valley Co-op, and was one of the primary winemaking facilities in Napa for much of the last century. Today, a redesigned visitor center and tasting room welcome visitors with warmth and elegance.
Guests to the winery can sample the portfolio of HALL wines, relax in arbor-covered courtyards and take in original works of modern art and sculpture from the Halls’ personal collection. Future plans for the winery include restoring the historic buildings on the grounds and developing a spectacular visitor center.
A huge sculpture standing well over ten feet tall guides you to the tasting room entrance. Once inside, don’t forget to look upward at the commissioned blown-glass sculpture “Red Rain” (stylized Cabernet drops) that graces the redwood interior. The wine production focus is on Bordeaux varietals, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, with three versions currently available. Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc round out the winery’s limited production.
A VIP program guides you through the winery grounds, tasting the current releases and visiting the historic Bergfeld Winery, where you will sample wines still in the barrel. Advance reservations are required, and the fee is $20 per guest. The Halls also have a facility in Rutherford available for tours and tasting, also by reservation only.

Steve Leveque, Director of Winemaking
Born and raised in Napa Valley, Steve Leveque has earned a reputation for finely crafted wines that reflect the terroir and celebrate the varietal. His more than 16 years of winemaking expertise started at Robert Mondavi Winery where he blossomed under the mentorship of Tim Mondavi and served as Winemaker for most of his 11-year tenure. Steve also served as Executive Vice President and Winemaker of Chalk Hill Estate Winery in Sonoma where he hand-crafted a portfolio of small-lot Bordeaux varietals to critical acclaim. Steve's personal philosophy and professional history demonstrate the reverence for the land and devotion to excellence that HALL embraces.
"My goal is to be true to the fruit, let it express itself purely and fully. Working with such a talented team, with such excellent vineyards, and in such an exceptional facility is exciting and inspiring. HALL is truly devoted to making great wine and is going about achieving that in all the right ways: organically farmed vineyards, hand-sorted fruit, gravity-fed tanks, and native yeast fermentations." –Steve Leveque

91 Points Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast
“A dry, stainless-steel fermented wine, this presents a generous floral bouquet upon entry, followed by a creamy palate, with textural layers of apricot and peach. Medium bodied, it remains refreshing throughout, making it an ideal choice for lighter occasions and lighter fare.”
