Why should you visit Armitage Wines/Heart O The Mountain for wine tasting?
In Scotts Valley, a mere 8 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean and 1100 feet above sea level, there is a Victorian winery overlooking a swath of vines. Here Pinot Noir grapes from the Dijon and Pommard regions of France are planted in small blocks and lovingly managed. They grow in emerald waves in the rocky soil and cool climate, complimenting the old 1881 building perfectly.
You can call for a private tasting in the rustic barn there, but you can also imbibe the wines in their modern tasting room in Aptos. The tasting room is a treat on its own. Velour chairs in contemporary designs and bright colors give you plenty of room to drink, and the dream-like paintings on the wall will treat your eyes while the wine treats your tongue. The paintings look like flames or ribbons in shades of red or blue. If you want to commune with Brandon Armitage, the winemaker, check out the picture of geometric shapes over the bar. See, he believes that you can use sacred geometry to bring vibrational energy from the universe into the wine, and he does this to make each batch taste its best.
If you want to see if Armitage’s geometry has succeeded, drop by the Armitage tasting room in Aptos Wednesday through Sunday.
