Nicora Winery

Nick Elliot of Nicora Winery believes in making everything personal. He named his winery by combining his name and his great-grandfather’s because he was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit and passion his forebear, Ora, brought to making a business. He chose to handcraft limited lots of Rhone wines from the most premium vineyards in the Central Coast because he loves to make the best of wines. This passion has worked for him, as his wines win awards.

Nick sources his fruit from sustainably farmed central coast vineyards like the famous Bien Nacido vineyard. He is committed to being a part of raising his grapes, so you can often find him in the vineyards alongside the vineyard staff. His commitment to the best fruit is a big part of producing high quality wines.

Fittingly, his tasting room is in Tin City. You will know when you reach the place when you see the round wooden plaque with the winery’s logo stenciled on it, as carefully crafted and polished as Nicora’s wines. Behind this is the gun-metal gray building with the wide wall-length windows, which houses a refined but friendly tasting room that allows you to savor his complex Syrahs and Grenaches in comfort.

Nick is a one man operation. He manages everything from selecting the grapes, to driving the forklift, to making the amaing Rhone blends he is known for. The tasting room hours are limited as a result, but the wine quality is always high.

It’s right next to Onyx and other tasting rooms, giving you a chance to winery-hop without driving, but you can visit Nicora’s tasting room by appointment only, so make sure to call ahead and schedule this room in your wine-tour plans.
