If you are ever in Calistoga and want to experience the epitome of wine country, come to the historic Fairwinds Estate Winery. This family winery is located in the hills that surround Napa Valley. The undulating hills of pine trees, olive trees and grape vines create a stunning panorama for picnics and wine tasting. The winery itself is a charming pale stone structure, topped with purple and red tiles. You can find wooden seats under the red leaves of the cherry trees on their patios. The design of the winery and tasting room melds in with the hills and the wildflowers.

The tasting room is another breath of Napa romance. Their recently refurbished room is tastefully appointed with repurposed glass, warm reclaimed wood and organic finishes. Coupled with the gleaming stone floor, the look is classy and modern, yet friendly.

If you bring a group bigger than 8, you can sign up for a tour of the estate, wine caves and bottling facility. While you can always drop by for a friendly glass unannounced, you will have to make reservations for private tastings and tours. But you get locally sourced cheese and their current release wine, so it’s worth the phone call and planning.

This winery is often described as a hidden gem. Fairwinds Estates isn’t one of the most visited wineries in the Valley, so you can expect exceptional one on one service. We suggest you view the wine caves and get a pairing with cheese. The caves are an experience you can’t find at many wineries.

This winery also offers a custom crush operation. This is for winemakers that don’t have their own facilities for making wine. They can lease a space at the winery and use the facilities to make their wine.
