About This Winery
+ More
In the heart of Downtown Berkeley, Jared and Tracey Brandt run a winery that is the distilled spirit of the city, Donkey and Goat Winery. You can’t miss the concrete and wooden warehouse painted beige and sporting their distinctive Donkey and Goat silhouettes. Sections of the outside areas have graffiti artwork on the wall. The whole winery simply screams ‘industrial Berkeley,’ and you will want to go in.
Once inside, the funky Berkeley vibe continues. Jared and Tracy are proud to produce all-natural wines made from sustainably harvested grapes and a pinch of sulfur, and their machinery is as stripped down as their ingredient list. They use nothing but concrete and wood for their fermenting, and they crush their grapes the old-fashioned, manual way.
In harmony with the rest of Berkeley, the Donkey and Goat tasting room knows how to have a good time. They put their tasting room inside their working winery, which gives anyone visiting a unique experience. Their room is furnished with a mishmash of wine barrels, polished driftwood, and brown leather armchairs. Pinewood bars and black shelving are there for resting your wine glass. Their yard boasts a bocce court and a corn hole, and visitors can relax at their picnic tables, enjoying the cool California weather. And the first Friday of every month brings even more fun as they stay open late and host musical acts and an art gallery. If you want your wine with a touch of Berkeley groove, Donkey and Goat Winery and Tasting Room is the place to be. Come and check them out.
Consider a reserved tasting and cheese pairing. This is a great way to experience Donkey and Goat wines.
