Why should you care about Aubert Wines?

Mark and Teresa Aubert take the craft of winemaking very seriously. They scrupulously go over the vineyards from the Sonoma Coast, Napa, Carneros, Russian River, and Rutherford appellations. They contract with the best growers to produce high quality, low yield grapes. Then they devote themselves to making wine with minimal intervention.

This attention and love of the product aren’t surprising for Mark Aubert. He comes from St. Helena with farming in his blood and started as a winemaker right out of college. He married Teresa, another Northern California native who also loves all things wine. They founded Aubert Wines in the 1990’s, and they have had a long string of highly-rated wines. In October 2016, Robert Parker praised their run of excellent Chardonnays. They consistently score 96 in Vinous, and they are well known for their richness and plushness.

The Aubert’s devote their time to making their Aubert wines. This means getting an appointment to their airy, elegant tasting room is a challenge. Should you get there, the views of the bay trees and the chance to drink the wine with oysters will make it very well worth it. Whether you actually get on their hallowed grounds are not, you should definitely call them about getting on their mailing list. It’s a must for every serious Chardonnay lover.
