Marvin & Paulette Teixeira planted a small vineyard on their cattle ranch in 2001. Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters) was named for the couples three daughters, Stacey, Tracey & Marcey.  Winemaker Luke Lindquist, makes French and Italian style wines using fruit from some of the leading vineyards on the Central Coast.

The tasting room is family run with lots of unique gift items. The wood beamed ceiling and homey interior makes for a comfortable wine tasting experience. On Sundays the frequently offer food pairing along with their wine. There is a refurbished mechanical toy riding horse for the kids and those up to 300 lbs. (bring a couple of quarters).

Wines are sourced beyond the estate vineyard with fruit coming from the Santa Rita Hills, Los Alamos and other Santa Barbara County vineyards. In total over a dozen wine are produced.  Luke’s father is Bob Lindquist from Qupe, his brother is Ethan Lindquist who makes wines under the Ethan label and his stepmother Louisa makes wines under the Verdad label.

Luke studied winemaking under the guidance of Fred Brander, undoubtedly, one of the leading winemakers in California. Luke also spent time studying winemaking in Europe

The label is a picture of the barn that exhibits the JT cattle brand, which was Marvin’s fathers brand used to identify cattle today. The barn still exists on the winery property which is still headquarters for the family cattle operation.

Stopped by on a whim as we had never heard of the place. We are glad we did. A nice tasting room and a friendly staff. The wine maker came out and signed our bottles. All the wine was good but the Barbara was exceptional. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Our third day on our harvest tasting trip brought us to the first stop of the day, Tres, they accept the vintners visas and Paulette one of the owners is pouring the wines. She takes us through 5 offerings and the wines are all good. I settle on a bottle of 03 syrah. Its early in the day and maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves. The rest of our party makes no purchases. The winery is located in an ideal spot and I am glad we stopped.

After driving by this winery several times, we decided to stop in. The matriarch of the family was pouring and obviously had lots of info regarding how and why the wines were made. In an era of mega sized companies running the area wineries, this is a fresh approach. A nice change and worth the stop for some nice wines with good stories behind them (the Syrah poured at their daughter's wedding).

We visited on a Friday and the place was completely empty. We were warmly greeted by the (an) owner and she proved to be very knowledgeable about all the wines. They were pouring 6 but they produce about 12 varietals and blends, including the traditional Rhones and a few Italians. Quality though was spotty. They were tasting(and selling cheaply) some seriously flawed Syrahs from past vintages that really should have been discarded (IMHO) more current Syrah and Syrah blends were decent though as were the Italian varietals. Prices generally between $20-$30 though, once again there is no waiver of the tasting fee with purchase:-(

Attended a friends special event at Tres Hermanas. This was actually my second visit to this winery and I was looking forward to this event. Paulette was pouring wine outside at the picnic she was very standoffish, did not engage her guests in any conversation about her wines. She was very rude to the couple who had their event there to the point she verbally attacked the person in front of her family and friends. Paulette was very short sighted, she just lost 2 memberships and probably 20 more potential revisits.. No one who attended this event will ever go back. I am in the Hospitality field in this area and will not be directing guests or recommending this winery in any way. Very Disappointed.
