Marvin & Paulette Teixeira planted a small vineyard on their cattle ranch in 2001. Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters) was named for the couples three daughters, Stacey, Tracey & Marcey. Winemaker Luke Lindquist, makes French and Italian style wines using fruit from some of the leading vineyards on the Central Coast.
The tasting room is family run with lots of unique gift items. The wood beamed ceiling and homey interior makes for a comfortable wine tasting experience. On Sundays the frequently offer food pairing along with their wine. There is a refurbished mechanical toy riding horse for the kids and those up to 300 lbs. (bring a couple of quarters).
Wines are sourced beyond the estate vineyard with fruit coming from the Santa Rita Hills, Los Alamos and other Santa Barbara County vineyards. In total over a dozen wine are produced. Luke’s father is Bob Lindquist from Qupe, his brother is Ethan Lindquist who makes wines under the Ethan label and his stepmother Louisa makes wines under the Verdad label.
Luke studied winemaking under the guidance of Fred Brander, undoubtedly, one of the leading winemakers in California. Luke also spent time studying winemaking in Europe
The label is a picture of the barn that exhibits the JT cattle brand, which was Marvin’s fathers brand used to identify cattle today. The barn still exists on the winery property which is still headquarters for the family cattle operation.
