About This Winery
+ More
This is a handsome 286 acre old world property with generous grassy lawns shaded with mature oak trees, a lovely picnic area, lemon and olive orchards, a historic stone winery, charming hospitality, and rich Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wine.
The winery was originally built in the 1870’s. It was sold to the Regusci family in 1932. The family-farmed property grew not only grapes, but walnuts, prunes, hay and corn. In 1995 the third generation of Regusci’s focused their efforts on Stag’s Leap estate grown wines and offered their first commercial vintage in 1996, producing Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Zinfandel. Their wines are intense, complex and very accessible.
The winery’s handsome hand-cut stone façade, with its graceful arched windows, is crafted entirely from lava stone. Its walls are two feet thick. Take a walk outside to the back and peek into the basement barrel room to see the historic building’s ancient interior.
The tasting room, opened in 1998, is up a rock built walkway. The stained concrete floor, wood-beamed ceiling and solid stone walls bring you back to simpler times. Olive oils pressed on the property are for sale as well as a few clothing items. Large format bottles available
