Tucked back 1/2 block off the main wine trail in Los Olivos is the newly transplanted tasting room for Stolpman Vineyards. A premiere grower of Rhone varietals, Stolpman has moved from their Solvang location to a updated craftsman style farmhouse in Los Olivos.
Out in front of the tasting room is a small demonstration vineyard along with a deck to relax from a long day of tasting. Inside is a very up-to-date design with a dark wood interior, concrete tasting counters, pendant lighting and an amiable staff.
The Stolpman Vineyard was planted in the early 1990’s in the idyllic rolling hillsides of Ballard Canyon. The 220-acre property is planted with Syrah, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne, Grenache, Cinsault, and Merlot.
The winery, located west of the vineyard in the town of Lompoc, produces these Rhone varietals, with Syrah being the premiere grape from the estate. Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends are also produced. The Stolpman vineyard designation can also be seen on numerous other wineries’ labels, since their premium grapes are in great demand.
