About This Winery
+ More
Perched on a commanding hillside above Highway 128, the St. Clement Mansion built in 1878 presides over the valley and vineyards below. The elegant wood-framed home accommodates a quaint tasting room and a small gift shop, providing visitors with a range of wines, tours, and tasting experiences.
The mansion and winery have gone through many owners over the years, and are now part of the Beringer Wine Estates. (The property was once owned by famed vintner Charles Krug.) In 1979 a new 10,000-case stone winery was built behind the mansion and is part of the tour program.
Known for their Bordeaux blend “Oroppas,” as well as Bordeaux and Burgundian varietals, St. Clement provides a number of opportunities to tour and taste. Opt for the Wine & Cheese Tasting, and take your nibbles out to their fine patio or a spot on the wrap-around veranda. The Oroppas Room Tasting offers library wines, or you can take any tour and add a boxed lunch. (Advance notice is required for lunches and tours.)
The winemaking philosophy at St. Clement is to merge the flavorful abundance of many of Napa’s rich vineyard estates to build complexity into the wines. The winery sources grapes from the cool wine lands of Carneros all the way north to Calistoga, with the goal of creating richly textured wines from the diversity of regions in the Napa Valley.
