About This Winery
+ More
Don’t be late to this winery, or you may just get a tardy! Burrell School Vineyards is located among the redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains at the site of the historic Burrell School.
The school’s origins date back to 1854 when Lyman J. Burrell settled the rough wilderness that is now home to the Burrell School Winery and Vineyard. Development of the site into a vineyard began in 1973, with formal operations of the Burrell School Vineyards commencing in 1992.
The Burrell School Vineyards is family-owned and operated, and feels welcoming and homey from the moment you step foot on the property. The tasting room is located within the original teacher’s carriage house, which provides an intimate area dedicated to showcasing the Burrell School wines. Stepping up to the wooden tasting bar, you will be swept back to the days gone by, as you read the teachers rules, the most important of which is, “I promise to sip my wine.” While at the tasting bar, you can enjoy a variety of wines, ranging from Bordeaux varietals to Burgundy, or their flagships wine, Valedictorian, which is a Bordeaux Blend.
