At Jaxon Keys, their motto is to honor the past as they shape the future. Jaxon Keys Winery is steeped in winemaking history, with roots dating back to 1858 when a Scottish immigrant, John McGlashen, established the property. Originally built in 1880, the beautifully restored historic Farmhouse Tasting Room is a visual reminder of Mendocino’s rich and storied past. When owners Ken and Diane Wilson purchased the property in 2009, their goal was to reestablish the land, buildings, and winery to its rightful place in Mendocino’s wine country.
The Jaxon Keys estate encompasses 1,250 beautiful acres. 125 acres are planted to vineyards, with the remaining acreage left undeveloped as it was when John McGlashen purchased it in 1858. Jaxon Keys has a wine for everyone—Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, white & red blends, Grenache, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Meritage, and many more. Their sustainable viticultural practices include composting, avoiding organophosphates, conservative pruning, block-specific trellising and canopy management, and post-veraison crop thinning. The hard work pays off in quality grapes and exceptional wines.
Jaxon Keys’ estate-grown wines have garnered numerous awards, as well as received high praise from satisfied customers. Visit the historic 1250-acre estate during one of Jaxon Keys’ many events. Or, come by any time and enjoy a leisurely wine tasting at the old Farmhouse. Then, feel free to hang out on the wraparound porch and drink in the views.
