Roscato Rosso Dolce

Hailing from Italy, this Roscato is a blend of Moscato, Creatine, Teroldego, and Lagrein varieties. One of the features that will instantly stimulate your palate is slight and pleasant carbonation.

It has generous, but not overwhelming fruit notes and you’ll detect strawberry, cherry, and raspberry most prominently. It’s relatively bold and full-bodied but it has a moderate finish without too much tartness.

As a Rosso Dolce, it’s quite sweet for a red but doesn’t cross into dessert wine territory. If you’re expecting a lusciously sweet red, this one won’t satisfy your sweet tooth.

Bernardus Griva Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Your typical Californian Sauv Blanc, medium-bodied, dry, and quite heavy on the acidity. Citrus notes will be most prominent on the attack and it transitions into a more savory flavor profile featuring butter, vanilla, and oak notes in the finish.

Not overly fruity, this wine is for the refined oenophile who likes to savor the full spectrum of a wine’s flavor. It makes an outstanding pairing for seafood and cheese-heavy dishes but can even stand on its own. This is one of the best wine deals on Vivino for white wine lovers.

Marchesi di Gresy La Serra Moscato d'Asti 2018

Another fine Italian varietal this wine is perfect as an aperitif with low alcohol content and light body. In 2020, La Serra Moscato d'Asti won Vivino’s Wine Style Award.

Heavily fruit-driven, this wine will start you off with stone fruit notes, including apricot and peach. Citrus notes are also present but much weaker. You’ll also pick up on tropical fruit aromas after aerating.

If you’re a fan of dessert wines, this Moscato will probably hit the right spot. Mildly acidic, it’s the perfect wine to pair with fruity desserts and aperitifs.

B.R Cohn Silver Label Merlot 2017

This bold and bone-dry Californian Merlot is one of the best deals on Vivino. It is savory and surprisingly soft. The attack is distinctly chocolatey with some oak notes mixed in.

This is a drinkable wine but you’ll find it much smoother with a meal. Its bold character is ideal for red meats such as beef and veal.

It’s on the smoother side but unmistakably sports a dry finish.

Hartford Court Pinot Noir 2018

Hartford Court’s 2013 Pinot Noir was rated among the top 1% of wines in the world. And the quality hasn’t suffered much since.

This is a medium-bodied, off-dry Californian Pinot Noir that punches above its apparent weight. Fruit-forward but without a sweet attack, the most present notes include cherry, raspberry, and blackberry.

Pairs well with lamb or poultry.

Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva 2014

This Spanish varietal wine is among the most popular wines on Vivino, bar none, with over 20,000 ratings. Rigid, and opulent, it’s heavy on the tannins with a structured, tart finish.

Oak, vanilla, and tobacco dominate the attack and a little extra time to breathe will help smoothen it out. If you’re a fan of classic Rioja wines, this will quickly become your daily driver.

It has a leathery and herbaceous finish with a touch of spice. A heavy wine, it pairs well with equally-bold red meats.

Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Hailing from New Zealand, this wine is a crisp and medium-bodied wine with heavy tannins and no residual sugar. Although it’s heavily acidic, you’ll find this to be a food-friendly wine with an elegant finish.

Strongly herbaceous on the nose with a citrus-dominated attack, you’ll find grapefruit and lime notes most heavily accented. Tropical fruits, such as guava and passion fruit are also present.

Barker's Marque 3 Brooms Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Single vineyard Sauv Blancs, like 3 Brooms tend to have a highly specific profile and distinct character. This wine is no different, a lean and crisp body leads with grapefruit and citrus notes with underlying pear and green apple flavors.

Like any good Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll find this one to be highly acidic but it has low minerality.
