About This Winery
+ More
In a grove of Redwood trees up against a hillside sits an old 1906-era barn that houses the tasting room of Kenwood Vineyards. The attractive, rustic wood-sided structure is attached to the winery building as well as to their underground cellars. Its large sliding barn-type doors lead you into a very friendly and relaxed space to taste the winery’s offerings.
The old barn has stories to tell, as does the seasoned tasting-room staff. (Ask if you can look behind the big doors in the back of the barn to spy on the dozens of 3,000 gallon French oak Demptos barrels.) The winery has over 125 stainless-steel fermenting and upright oak tanks and 14,000 French and American oak barrels used to craft wines.
The winery makes classic California varietal wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and Merlot. The winery uses its own estate grapes as well as sourcing fruit from other nearby areas, including the Russian River Valley and nearby Glen Ellen.
Kenwood has a reputation for making fruit-forward wines that offer consistent quality and value. Using the "cuvée" winemaking method, the harvest from each vineyard is handled separately, then blended together to create the final product. They also produce a Single Vineyard Series of wines including their flagship, Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Also, check out their Artist Series of labels and their ever-consistent Sauvignon Blanc.
