Acquiesce Winery and Vineyards

Acquiesce Winery got its name from owner Susan Tipton’s decision to submit to nature and let the grapes speak through the wine. She selected the best Rhône varietals and then used sustainable farming practices to make her classic whites. When you come to her winery in charming Lodi, you will see lightly watered vineyards surrounded by native grasses and held up on simple metal supports. The effect is charming, and you haven’t even reached the tasting room yet.

Their tasting room is a stately old barn overlooking their 18 acres of Grenache Blanc vines. With the bright yellow walls, classy wrought iron designs over the round windows, and traditional strings of light strung across the room, the 100-year old building conveys homey traditions. This is added to by their hospitality and the wines themselves.

They serve their Rhône-inspired Whites and Rosès with little canapés, giving you a thoroughly grand tasting experience. Do you want to enjoy the pleasant Lodi weather while you drink? There are metal picnic tables to sit at the front of the barn. You can even walk through the surrounding vineyards and taste the grapes that made the Gold-Medal winning 2015 Grenache Blanc. Its lively minerality snagged the hearts of judges at Sunset Magazine, just like this winery’s humble charm will snag you.

This winery makes such popular wines that they are forced to close from time to time. This is because they only make a limited number of bottles and they can actually sell out of all of the wines that they make. You should always check with them before you visit to make sure they have wines to serve and will be open! If you try their wines and enjoy them, you should sign up to get on their waiting list for an allocation of wines.
