About This Winery
+ More
Sharing the rolling hillsides of Los Alamos Valley are cattle ranches, farming operations and premium wine grape vineyards. The area is situated close enough to the coast to create the long cool growing season so perfect for Rhone varietals.
Coming in to the small settlement of Los Alamos, you have no choice but to slow down and take up the gentle pace of this one-street town. There are currently three storefront wine-tasting facilities in town, with Bedford Thompson’s
300-square-foot tasting room being the largest and most interesting.
The long narrow tasting room, with its rustic “wine-garden” patio, is housed in an old wood and plaster building in the center of town. The immense wine bar was custom made on-site and is some five inches thick and sixteen feet long. There are an antique bureau and dusty wine bottles decorating this funky, out-of-the-way tasting room. The patio is shaded with a giant Chinese Elm tree and has a fountain and picnic tables; local wine, music, theatrical and culinary events are frequently hosted here.
Wines produced include dry barrel-fermented Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petite Sirah.
