Herzog Wine Cellars has wine making history that goes back generations. Philip Herzog made wine in Slovakia for the Austro-Hungarian court more than a century ago. The family continued to make wine commercially after relocating to New York following WW II. In 1985 the family decided to expand their winemaking operation and came to California.
In 2005 a new winery was built along with a specialty restaurant, Terra Sur, in Oxnard. The impressive modern facility was designed for making small-lots of premium and affordable wines from a variety of vineyards throughout California. Grapes are brought in from Napa, Sonoma, Lodi, Clarksburg and the CentralCoast. They produce Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc Chenin Blanc, a late harvest Riesling, White Zinfandel, Syrah, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir and Black Muscat along with their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon.
The expansive tasting room offers two tasting flights and has an excellent gift shop. Self-guided tours of the winery are available daily. Guided tours are offered Monday-Thursday at 3:30 and 4:30 pm.Tours on Sundays are available by appointment only.
