+ More
Jada Vineyard & Winery sits on a hilltop on the west side of Paso Robles’ on Vineyard Drive. The winery produces Bordeaux and Rhône blends. The vineyard was established in 1999, when Jack and Robyn Messina purchased the land with their sights set on making olive oil. They quickly decided to diversify and plant grapes and later, in 2005, created a winery.
The old barn on the property lent itself perfectly to a gravity flow winery. The living space above the old horse stables was converted into a contemporary tasting room, and the stables below converted to become the barrel room.
Jada’s modern open air tasting room has an acid stained concrete tasting bar and a great deck to enjoy. The friendly staff will guide you through the wines paired with fine cheeses from Paso’s local cheese shop, Vivant. You can sample Jada’s Tuscan-style olive oil made from olives grown on the estate.
Jada Vineyard and Winery wine making description:
The “Jersey Girl”, named for Robyn’s proud roots, is Syrah harvested from the tops of the hills. Jersey Girl 2008 $40.00
100 % Estate Syrah 462 Cases Produced
The 2C block of Syrah, at 14 acres, is one of the largest blocks on the property and covers a variety of aspects and soil depths. As a result, the grapes were harvested
over five picks spanning roughly two weeks. The 08 Jersey Girl is a selection of barrels from each of these picks designed to offer up subtle nuances and add to the overall intrigue of the wine.
The grapes were hand harvested, de-stemmed and gravity fed to 1.5 ton and 3 ton open top fermenters. Each lot then underwent an extensive pre-fermentation cold soak. Over the next three weeks the lots were fermented separately utilizing only punch-down for cap management. Upon dryness, the lots were gently basket pressed and aged in barrel for 18 months prior to blending. The wines were then bottled unfined and unfiltered in April 2010.
Slight notes of lavender and dark cocoa are presented on the nose, while flavors
of cassis and boysenberry develop on the palate, along with a velvety smooth body.
