About This Winery
+ More
Known for their Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc, Buck and Karly Cobb have been making wine in the Shenandoah Valley for over 27 years. They have recently added Rhone varietals to their list, including Roussanne, Marsanne, Mourvedre and Syrah.
The homey tasting room is at the end of a long graded road. The converted kitchen invites adventurous visitors to their big, bold and fruit-forward wines. Sixty percent of their production is from their own estate fruit, with the balance sourced from nearby vineyards.
The winemaking, grape growing and running of the winery is a family affair at Karly, with three sons taking on various roles alongside their former-fighter-pilot father. (He flew F-86s during the Korean War.) Always experimenting, Buck crafts small amounts of non-traditional blends using the Rhone varietals as a base. The wines sell out quickly due to their quality and small production levels. Also available is a sweet Orange Muscat.
