Lancaster Estate

Situated on the narrow and less-traveled roads of southern Alexander Valley, Lancaster Estate recalls the bucolic essence of wine country’s past. The lush composition of the agrarian setting, the harmony between our winery and its surroundings, and the sanctuary of the caves all have to be experienced first hand.

Fifty-three hillside-acres of vineyards are located in the eastern hills of southern Alexander Valley, at the confluence of the Chalk Hill and Knights Valley appellations. This southern “sub-appellation” is emerging as a leading location for producing Cabernet-based blends.

The property consists of 24 vineyard blocks that are sub-divided into 27 distinct sub-blocks. The vineyard is planted exclusively to the classic Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.

Tastings and Tours are private and by appointment only. Led by our experienced Wine Educators, you’ll trace the evolution of our wines from grape to glass. Our tours feature a tasting of four current release wines. Advance reservations are required and recommend advance notice as space is limited.

The winery, constructed in 2001, was designed by Eugene Silva, an architect who specializes in buildings that blend organically into the landscape. The contemporary style of our winery reflects the rustic elegance of the Estate with natural building materials that will weather attractively with time.

The facility includes more than 9,000 square feet of caves. Carved deep into the heart of No Name hill, cellar operations and aging take place under naturally regulated temperatures and humidity. A niche was carved out of the cave’s northern wall to create an underground tasting room, with access reserved for members of the Lancaster Estate Wine Guild.
