About This Winery
+ More
In the middle of their vineyard stands a majestic old Madrone tree, the namesake of Madroña Vineyards. At an elevation of 3,000 feet (one of the highest vineyards in California), Madroña can truly claim the distinction of offering mountain-grown wines.
Over 20 years old, the 35-acre estate vineyard was originally planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Riesling; it has since added Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Gewürztraminer. The winemaking goal is to produce estate wines that best accompany food. In addition to their varietal wines, they produce a traditional five-grape Bordeaux blend and a port.
The tasting room in the Apple Hill Region is set in a grove of shade trees, with picnic tables sharing the peaceful environment. Inside the wood-paneled room are two long tasting counters and displays of gift items. The winery hosts a number of events during the year, including special wine seminars, dinners, release parties and festivals.
