Old World Winery

The Old World Winery is located in Fulton. The town of Fulton in Northern California is a small, sparkling example of California tradition: friendly and comfortable. It’s the perfect match for Old World Winery, which sits on rural River Road, backed by a honey farm and across from a hardware store. You will know you are there when you see the wooden fence and the gravel driveway leading to an unassuming brown house. It is the picture of old-fashioned comfort.

The picture is completed once you are in the cozy tasting room. You pass wide glass doors to find a weathered wooden bar under unobtrusive track lighting. Red walls and simple tile complete the look of rural relaxation. It’s the perfect fit for their wine, which the owners insist on making with only native yeast and the most minimal amount of sulfur they can get away with.

They firmly believe that a wine should stand out, and, rather than strive for a consistent quality, they let the individuality of the grapes shine through. There winemaking is more in line with the wines of Europe, this is why the name Old World Winery is so fitting. You will not find the high alcohol “fruit bombs” that are popular at other Nothern California wineries. Their wines from the rare Arborious grapes are particularly charming. You can relax on their cobblestone patio with their samples, completing the pastoral experience as you look across the road to their best vineyard and the rolling fields that attracted so many people to California in the first place.
