To visit Opolo vineyards is to take a step into an unforgettable experience. After an idyllic drive through vineyards and beautiful countryside, guests are welcomed into a tasting room full of culture and tradition, with an equally present sense of uniqueness and individuality.

Co-owners Rick Quinn and Dave Nichols bottled their first vintage in 1999, opening the Tasting Room in 2001. Celebrating over fifteen years since opening to the public, that passion for wine making is more evident than ever, and is enjoyed by thousands of wine-lovers throughout the world.

The team at Opolo Vineyards has made it their goal to show that wine tasting does not have to be intimidating. The tasting room is inviting and the staff is passionate, friendly, and knowledgeable, proving that wine tasting can be both educational and fun.

Opolo grows nearly 300 acres of grapes on both the east and west sides of Paso Robles. This provides a wide range in climate, soil, and growing potential, allowing an extensive range of varietals to flourish. Unique single varietals are an Opolo specialty, as well as creative and delightful blends.

Fees: $15 Classic Tasting, $25 Reserve Tasting Flight. Waived with the purchase of two bottles.

Unique Amenities: Pairings on the Patio: Enjoy artisan food items paired with a glass of Opolo wine. Menu selection includes Fire-roasted Pizzas, Mezze platters, Housemade Cevapi and sausages, as well as a fresh salad option.
Winery Dog: Though we love our furry friends, we do not allow pets of any kind other than service animals on the patio and in the Tasting Room as we serve food. This is per CA Health and Safety Code 114259.5. We apologize for this inconvenience, please feel free to walk with them on our vineyard trails during your visit.

The staff is amazing and so are the wines. It was raining the afternoon we arrived and we asked if we could have a picnic lunch under their awning in front of the tasting room. No problem, staff brought us a sample of the Viognier to accompany our lunch. The Italian wines and Zins are very good with some nice price points, couple this with the barn feel tasting room and great staff. One of our faves for the future.

We had a great time at Opolo. Liked all the wines we tasted. Mountain Zin especially a good value. Nice grounds and relaxed laid back tasting room/area/staff. Joined the wine club, we will be back!

Opolo is a tasting room that I always go out of my way to stop at. The wines are great and their price points are even better for the quality of wine that they produce. I was up there over Wine Festival Weekend (3rd weekend in May) and they were not giving the traditional complimentary pours. It cost $5.00 to taste, but well worth it.

Award winning wines are available at this winery. Delicious bbq of sausages (I thought that we could eat lunch here but the sausages were not really available for sale ... samples were free with tasting). During our tasting, our server was very energetic and bouncing all over the place. Server did not follow wine listing order. We really enjoyed the wines; however, we had no idea what we were trying so we didn't buy much.

The real story here is the Zinfandel. They produce several varieties and they're all beautiful, inky, fruity and finish with pepper and oak. I highly recommend saving your money on their wine until Sept 2009 when the 07 Mountain Zinfandel is released to non-club members; this vintage is a true treat!

I was actually pleasantly surprised about this winery. What I didn't like was the crowd compared to other wineries and the two tiers of wine. Was with a wine club member and the member wines, who are the only ones allowed to purchase these. were far superior in taste compared to many of the general public wines. Staff was great and nice amenities to eat lunch in nice surroundings. Prices good and wines in general were smooth and dry at the same time.

They produce many different wines including some limited production unusual varietals. Many of the reds are more fruit forward than other producers, so if that is your taste preference you'll love these wines. The staff is great and the wine club is a good value and the events are nice

Very relaxed tasting room where you stand at a bar supported by wine barrels. The staff are mostly young and enthusiastic. Great wines also -- ask for a barrel tasting if they aren't too busy. Also try and make one of their authentic bbq's!

Perhaps it was because it was on the recommendation list of all of our friends that had visited the area and it did not live up to the hype but we were disappointed. The way the tasting room was organized was confusing, the staff was a bit detached, and we felt the wine was good but it was better elsewhere and a bit overpriced. Perhaps if you go with lesser expectations then we did you will enjoy your visit more then we did.

Wine-tasting is NOT complimentary ($10 per taster which will be waived if 2 bottles of wine per taster are purchased). Regular tasting wines were average; wine club only wines could be sampled but only purchased by current wine club members or joining.
