Paradise Ridge Vineyards & Winery

We noticed the tasting room sign when we stopped for gas in Kenwood, so we decided to stop in. Almost two hours later we left with some wonderful wines. We sat out back at a picnic table in their patio garden populated with "pipe art" sculptures. Our host was Annette, the manager. She taught us about the effect that aromas have on our sense of taste. As she served us wines she had us crush and sniff various herb like oregano and arugula and experience how various herbs can enhance or suppress the flavor of wines. It was a fascinating experience. All of their wines were wonderful. Favorites were the Rockpile Estate Cabernet and the 2010 Posse blend. The Rockpile had a deep purple garnet color with a bold earthy rich flavor with pronounced tannins. The lingering finish kept getting better and better. The Posse was a blend of Syrah, Petit Sirah and Zinfandel. The color was a very deep purple. It had a peppery flavor with a burst of fruit and a warm long lasting finish. We like Paradise Ridge winery quite a lot- it was the first wine club we ever joined. Recent visits have proved a bit disappointing in that staffers have not been as welcoming and friendly, but sometimes you hit a person on an off day, so we try to keep that in mind.
We especially like the Convict and Elevation wines, both Rockpile sourced and delicious.
The views from the main facility in Santa Rosa are just amazing and on a clear day you really can se forever. Sunset Wednesdays are definitely a good thing to put in your plan.
