Why visit Patland Estate Vineyards?

The Patland Estate Vineyards is a huge enterprise that stretches across the southern edge of Pritchard Hill, going from the western edge of Atlas Peak to the eastern edge of Oakville. The Patland Family bought this from the Krupp family years back. Now they grow nothing but Malbec grapes here, but it is a fantastic grape which has let them produce fine rosés, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other luxurious white wines.

If you want to see where the magic happens, then Patland Vineyards gives you 2 choices. There is a 500 ft Elevation Experience and there is a 1000 ft Elevation Experience, both of which include a tour of the winery and a private wine tasting. The 500 ft Elevation tour takes an hour and lets you sample 5 current releases. The 1000 ft tour is an hour and a half and includes 2 special releases with the 5 current ones that they featured in the 500 ft one. These experiences are only available by appointment, but you will be in for a treat once you make the date. This winery features Mediterranean landscaping, replete with cypress trees and oleander flowers, and the 3 buildings themselves are inspired by Italian architecture.

These buildings blend right into the rugged mountains of the Napa Valley. There’s a bocce court, vegetable gardens on terraced slopes, and plenty of amphorae. It’s no wonder that they call the estate Terra Del Cuore, which means ‘Land of the Heart’ in Italian. You will feel like you’ve been transported to the old country when you stop by for a wine tasting.
