For 80+ years the Pedroncelli family has been making consumer-friendly wines in their Dry Creek Valley winery, with rich and flavorful red wines being their specialty.  

Heading west toward Dry Creek Road, Pedroncelli’s wood-framed winery sits just inside the Dry Creek Appellation. As the oldest tasting room in the region, it hosts many return visitors who come for the laid-back, friendly hospitality. The tasting room has tile floors, an “L”-shaped tasting counter and knowledgeable staff. There is a good chance that a family member will be pouring for you during your visit. There is a separate gallery room with local artwork on display and some boutique items for sale. Outside, picnic tables are situated under a heavy wooden pergola adjacent to the bocce ball courts.

The fourth-generation, family-run winery grows Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane and Cabernet Sauvignon. They source Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Sangiovese from nearby growers who have long-term relationships with the Pedroncelli family. Winemaker John Pedroncelli Jr. has made wine during 40+ vintages and is considered the most experienced vintner in the Valley. He continues to innovate, creating vineyard-select wines. As vineyard manager, he has replanted the estate vineyards using advanced trellises to grape varieties carefully selected for each site.

Pedroncelli is known for its ripe, rich Zinfandel, with its jammy fruit and subtle black-pepper flavors. The winery also makes port from the traditional Portuguese varieties of Tinta Madeira, Tinta Cao, Touriga, and Souzao.

We had a wonderful tour from Julie, the granddaughter of the founder of the winery.
It was interesting and informative. The wines had a nice range to suit many tastes. The Zinfandel was spicy and delightful. I am drinking the Cabernet right now and it is full bodied with berries and pepper. Their prices were very reasonable and I would recommend to anyone.

Stopped in at Pedroncelli as part of an all day wine tour through Dry Creek Valley. The tasting room was virtually empty, so we had the whole bar to ourselves! The tasting room host was very friendly and one of the grandsons of the founders. He seemed to know a lot about the wine (obviously) and poured us a selection of primarily Zinfandel, plus some Cabs and a nice Port made from the four main Portuguese Port varietals. The tasting room is in a rustic barn like structure and there are glass partitions which allow you to see into the barrel room. Very nice, laid back tasting atmosphere in a tranquil setting.

We like Pedroncelli very much and have had their wines at the winery as well as at ZAP events in other states. The tasting room is very reminiscent of an old boardroom- the high, wood wainscoting and darker walls sort of set the tone of something special is going to happen here.
This is a great experience, especially for someone new to tasting in the area because not only is the winery steeped in local history, but they continue the tradition of supporting their neighbors by offering information about wineries nearby and they freely share suggestions for other wineries that serve wines that you may like. We appreciated this attitude as newcomers and we continue to enjoy informative exchanges with the staffers when we visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting in this tasting room on a clammy spring morning. Only negative was that the room was kind of dark, which can be a plus but not on a cloudy day.
We liked some of the wine, but felt it was higher in price than we wanted to pay for it. Very nice staff once they warmed up to us.
Its a nice facility and worth a visit, but I don't think I would say I'd go out of my way to visit aagin.

Pedroncelli, north of Geyserville: We were the first tasters of the day. It was free, and we had a good time. We bought the table wine for $10.
