Rams Gate Winery | Wine Tasting

Just past the Sonoma Raceway is a beautiful, rustic open winery called the Rams Gate Winery. In the Big Bang Room, which is what they call their tasting room, you will sit under white cubic ceiling hangings that catch the light from the wide bay windows. The white marble tables contrast with the rough wood walls and the sparkling views of the estate. The Rams Gate owners are passionate about architecture, and they have devoted themselves to make a classic, yet rustic setting. A relaxing open space makes a great place to eat their charcuterie, local-sourced cheese and other house-made accompaniments and pair them with their wines. You can also take your wines under the awning on the porch to rest on the black chairs to view the gently sloping lawns and vineyards.

Rams Gate Winery offers a variety of tours and tastings. You can get a Vineyard Designate Tasting and Tour where the hospitality staff shows you the barrel hall, winemaking facilities, and member-exclusive spaces. You can get a group tasting that ends at their marble demonstration table. You can also get a 90 to 120 minute class in pairing food with wine. You can get a picnic at the pond, take in a Portfolio tasting, or a tour with a picnic called “The Vineyard Table.” This winery likes to spread the joy in as many forms as they can, so you get your tasting the way you like it.

Rams Gate focuses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. These wines are the most suited to the growing region the winery is in. The winemaker likes to produce wines in smaller lots and he is heavily involved in managing the vineyard. He is focused on making sure the local “terroir” can be tasted in the wines.
