From its tile-roofed facility along picturesque Steiner Road, Renwood Winery produces copious amounts of Amador County wines including California, Rhone, and Italian varietals, sweet Muscats, vintage ports, and a very unusual Amador Ice Zinfandel.
The winery specializes in Zinfandel, making six different proprietary and vineyard-designated versions, including a semi-sweet White Zinfandel. They use old-world, handcrafted winemaking techniques – including the use of a traditional basket press – to produce their fruit-forward, bold Italian and Rhone-style wines. Their large vineyard holdings supply 60 to 70 percent of their grapes; the rest are purchased from local growers.
The tasting room and gift shop are laid out for easy browsing while you sample your wine. There is a large amount of merchandise for sale, including photographs, glassware, logo clothing, pottery, cigars, and a fully stocked deli case. Picnic tables can be found outside.
