Rios-Lovell Estate Winery

I visited this winery for the first time this past weekend. It was a gem in my book. My wife and I go wine tasting frequently with our friends and are always looking for something new and different. We discovered Rios-Lovell as we were driving by and it was the second winery we visited that day. When we entered the tasting room we were immediately greeted by the owner, the winemaker and two other employees. They had a very impressive list of wines and ports. The tasting was $5 each and you get to taste 8 wines, which is a lot from our experience. We fell in love with their 04 Cab especially. It has an International Gold medal and you can definitely tell. In fact, many of their wines have some very prestigious medal yet they are very humble about it. This s not one of those snobby winery's, which we really appreciated. This is a must stop if you're in Livermore, the winery is beautiful, Max the owner/winemaker is a delight and the Ports are to die for! Be prepared to leave with a case of wine. If you have never had quality Port this is were you learn about good Port, do not miss this opportunity to taste Port! Any true wine lover, enjoys quality Port.

I have been to Rios Lovell quite a few times for various events and I have never been impressed. They host quite a few weddings each year because they are in a great location and I have heard they are a fairly inexpensive facility to rent for your special day. However, you get what you pay for and I would not recommend you risk one of the more important days of your life on a facility with as many problems as they have. There are quite a few things about Rios Lovell that make me feel this way, so I thought I would make a list so others thinking about using this facility won't be surprised like I was the first time here.

1) Restroom Cleanliness - Each time I have been here, the men's bathroom has smelled very fowl, as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. I cannot speak for the women's restroom, but I would not be surprised if it were just as unsanitary.

2) Kitchen Cleanliness - The kitchen in the tasting room was a mess. The sink had a plate with food residue on it that stunk and looked to have
