Riverstar Vineyards is family owned and operated and located in the rich vineyard region northeast of Paso Robles. The Dutton family has been growing grapes in Paso Robles since 1986. The 80 acres of vines were originally comprised of three varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, but now the vineyard has expanded to producing Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel. These wines have been collecting awards ever since the winery opened.

The tasting room and winery was built in a converted horse barn. Walking into the room, wine lovers are greeted with a beautifully arid space, equipped with a long marble counter to serve the tastings of the delicious Riverstar wines. The gift shop displays an assortment of spices, jams, jellies and an array of fine specialty wine accessories and other wine-related products, perfect for gift-giving or to take home. They even sport olive oils and salsas, perfect tastes to compliment Riverstar’s own wine varietals.

Outside, there is a luxurious view of the vineyard, with its rolling hills of vines planted near the Estrella river.

Rating Entries

This was a super stop on the Pleasant Valley wine trail. The tasting included some of their reserve wines, so there was something for everyone from Sauv Blac to Dessert wine! The Affinity blend was very good, and their new release is coming out this week! Enjoyed meeting Sue who typically runs the Tasting Room. Good value pricing and 20% club discount even for the lowest ship level.

Coming from Paso, we stopped at J. Lohr, but continued on Airport Road towards San Miguel. We were delighted to find Riverstar. Having heard their ads on Krush, their selection in the tasting room did not disappoint. We enjoyed meeting Ed, who runs the show with his wife, as well as making the wine and appearing in the tasting room to greet guests. The San Miguel region is up and coming!
