Rochioli Winery

Stopped by Rochioli during the first weekend of barrel tasting even though they weren't part of the barrel tasting. I was told this winery was quite snobbish, but pleased to find just the opposite. Only had a couple available for tasting, but they were fabulous, 09 Estate Chardonnay and 09 Estate Pinot. I really think this was my favorite Pinot of the entire weekend. It's on my wish list but it's $50+ so I didn't buy a case at the time.

I would recommend anyone in this area stob by. We did buy the Chardonnay, which I usually don't drink, but an exception is in order here.

I walked in with a group of fellow Harvest Interns and was warmly greeted by our tasting room host. The layout of the tasting room is pretty sparse, with a few books and logo items for sale. However, one comes to Rochioli primarily for their award winning wine. Although their pricier single-estate wines weren't available for tasting, we did get to try a few, more available bottlings, such as the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir (for which they are probably most famous). The windows of the tasting room provided views of the estate-owned vineyard and the garden out in front seemed like a peaceful place to sit and hang out in the shade. Going midday on a weekday definitely contributed to the more relaxed atmosphere, as West Side Road tends to look a lot like Highway 29 in Napa on the weekends. Would definitely bring my friends here again!
