About This Winery
+ More
Starmont winery has an interesting history. In the late 1800’s, Judge John Stanly bought one of the largest vineyards, Stanly Ranch, in the area that is now called Carneros, and his wines became famous for winning medals. Starmont Winery and Vineyards sit on his famous property, and the new owners are proud to make wines expressive of the Carneros history and spirit. It also isn’t too surprising, with such a history of excellent wine making, that they also strive to preserve this space through sustainable growing practices such as integrated pest management and permanent crop covers.
You can come and see this piece of California past and present yourself. Drive out to the end of Stanly Lane in Napa and you’ll find a gently sloping meadow where rows of vines run southwest to northeast. Follow these to their open-air tasting room. The low, dark ranch house is wide and rambling, but the tasting room is a comfortably modern glassed-in room, full of white chairs around intimate tables. If you would like to take advantage of the view of verdant fields afforded by the winery, you can sit outside on their black wicker chairs in their courtyards. Here you can sip your wine around the stone fire pit and enjoy the splendid weather. There is even a guided hike and barrel tasting that you can make reservations for. Truly, Starmont Winery is Sonoma County distilled, and you should come and imbibe of it.
You can find classic Carneros wines at Starmont. They feature Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and the Napa favorite Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery as is making a GSM blend which is a classic Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre.
