About This Winery
+ More
Sterling Vineyards is based in Calistoga California. Few things are more breathtakingly beautiful than Mount Saint Helena and the spa town of Calistoga, especially when you get a bird’s eye view that includes the Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges stretching off into the distance and the velvety green Napa Valley with the picturesque little town.
The view is enjoyed even more when you are at the Sterling Vineyards winery. Their winery sports a ski lift ride up to their winery, which sits 300 feet above the town. Adding to the native view, the owner has added a touch of the luxuriously exotic. The stunning white architecture of the building is a direct borrowing from the Greek resort island of Mykonos, a place that advertises itself as “Little Venice” and boasts upscale tourist attractions.
The likeness between the winery and the island is immediately apparent, not only in the architecture, but the historical attractions. Sterling Vineyard houses bells from Church of St. Dunstan’s-in-the-East and Picasso paintings, just as Mykonos Island curates its ancient churches and archaeological digs.
And just as the island hosts many exciting activities, so Sterling Vineyards gives you a range of ways to enjoy their hospitality. You and a friend can try food and wine pairings in their elegantly appointed South View Terrace, where chefs match locally-sourced cheese and charcuterie platters with the vineyards wines. If you prefer to go all out, you can get the Silver Experience, which lets you take a self-guided tour of the winery, view art exhibits, and sample limited release wines in the elegantly-appointed tasting rooms. You can also try the General Admission, where you tour the lower part of the winery and taste current release wines. The resemblance between one of Greece’s most famous tourist islands and Napa Valley’s most-loved tourist stop is a wonder to behold, so definitely drop by if you are in the area.
