It’s Whetstone Wine Cellars, which is a winery in the form of a 19^th-century chateau, complete with a wide, flagstone porch and a large, lush lawn. You can sip wine here in the cedar and oak groves that surround it, or come inside for another treat. There is a lot of history at Whetstone. The main building was designed by Hamden McIntyre. Hamden was the man responsible for designing many of the early wine chateaus in Napa Valley. He designed Greystone, Inglenook and Chateau Montelena. He was a master of gravity flow winery design and has left an amazing legacy in the Valley.

Their tasting room keeps the quaint elegance of the outside. The rough stone walls and large fireplace seem to fit in a renaissance hotel. You can experience this place in 4 ways. They offer a Pinot tasting for 2 to 6 people, a classic tasting for groups of 1 to 9 people, a large group tasting for over 10 people, and a Sip & Relax tasting. Sadly, you cannot have a picnic on their grounds, but their Sip & Relax tastings let you hang out until they close at 5 pm. The fine wine and surroundings are just the foreign-vacation-at-home you have been waiting for.
