About This Winery
+ More
Atop a small knoll in the heart of Edna Valley surrounded by hundreds of acres of grapes, is Wolff Vineyards. Creeks, quail, kestrels, red-tail hawks and barn owls grace the location, adding to the wonderful hospitality and tasting experience at Wolf Vineyards.
The winery has very limited production and uses traditional Burgundian winemaking methods. “French new oak, barrel fermentation, sur lie and batonnage are a few of the techniques applied to our wines," says Jean-Pierre Wolff, patriarch and winemaker of Wolf Vineyards.
The new tasting room has a great view along with a patio, gardens, and fountains. The space is spacious, special and charming. Table service adds a bit of flair to your tasting, with family members attending to your tasting needs. The ambiance is gentle and relaxed.
The winery focus is on their estate-grown grapes. The vineyard includes 55 acres of Chardonnay and 37 acres of Pinot Noir grapes. Twelve additional acres are planted to Teroldego (an Italian variety that is very rare in the U.S.), Syrah, Petite Sirah and Riesling. The 30-year-old Chardonnay blocks are dry-farmed, giving the wine a site-specific terroir characteristic. The Pinot Noir blocks are planted on four Dijon clones, adding complexity to the finished wines.
Wolf Vineyard’s grapes are grown using sustainable winegrowing practices, including soil management, integrated pest management, water conservation and energy conservation. Cover crops are used between rows, as are organic soil amendments.
