Yoakim Bridge is easy to miss if you aren’t on the lookout for it. Set back on a narrow gravel road off of Dry Creek Road, Yoakim Bridge is a small, family owned winery which specializes in dry-farmed old vine Zinfandel.

The landmark homestead and winery consists of an 1886 Victorian farmhouse and a warm and rustic tasting room enhanced with a stunning valley view. This is one of the few wineries in Dry Creek Valley which charge a tasting fee, but this fee can be applied to any purchased bottle.

Located on four acres at the northern end of Dry Creek Valley, the winery is owned by David Cooper and Virginia Morgan, graduates of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Their focus is on estate Zinfandel, yet they also make remarkable Dry Creek Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. When tating you must try their meatballs marinated in Zin sauce, which when paired with their Zinfandel wines, is a heavenly match.

Good Zin and meatballs. This small little tasting room could barely fit 6 people, but we managed to squeeze in here on a weekend and taste some of their estate Zin. The guy behind the counter was a little surly, but we didn't take it personal. Their focus is on big, jammy Zins (which I love), as well as some others like Syrah, Cab, etc. The tasting room was small but quaint, and had a nice deck outside and was in a very tranquil setting. It's fun discovering small wineries like this.
