Overseeing this naturally beautiful area is an architectural wonder of a winery. Created by the architect Howard Backen, this long, low wooden ranch house is entered by a glass-encased porch and leads down a long hall. This puts you in a tasting room decorated in dark polished wood and luxurious white carpet. The real treat is going out on the tiled patio, where you get an Eagle’s view of the surrounding landscape. The wrap-around porch sports deep chairs and rails for leaning on. To top all this, their wines are some of the best. They blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot into a stunning Bordeaux inspired blend. The proportion of each varietal is altered each year depending on the harvest. You can be assured they will get the correct balance in their wine. Their wines are tannic and well-structured, so you can age a wine from Ovid Vineyards for up to 25 years.
