Why visit Salvestrin Winery for wine tasting?
John and Emma Salvestrin fell in love with St. Helena back in the 1920s, and who can blame them? It’s a charming, quaint little place blessed with vibrant old oak trees and picturesque mountains. They bought a section of the historic Crane Ranch and set up in the old Victorian home in 1932, and they have been winemaking there ever since.
Their descendants have followed in their footsteps for 4 generations now. They care so much about continuing this winery for future generations that they have been certified as sustainable by Napa County and have invested in making their land as organic as possible.
Not only do they want to keep this winery for their family, but they want to keep it for guests. Salvestrin provides semi-private tastings in their loft tasting room or their patio garden. The patio is enclosed by a low stone wall and is filled with charming flowers and rustic picnic tables.
The loft is also quite comfortable, as it has modern leather chairs and straw-seated bar stools. The whole house is cozy, with dark wood features and a stone foundation. And it should be, as Ed Salvestrin still lives on site and his family works there with him. As you can imagine, this means that you should call to make an appointment for either of their tasting programs, which include the Harvest Tasting and the Crane Estate Tasting. (The Crane Estate tasting involves a history lesson and is a little longer.)
Joining in the Salvestrin legacy is easy. Just call and make an appointment. They will be pleased to share their family’s joy in their winery.
