About This Winery
Why visit Vesper Vineyards when you are in San Diego? The first reason is that you can find great wine ON TAP!
San Diego County is not famous for being part of the wine scene, but this is where Alysha Stehly and Chris Broomell decided to set up Vesper Vineyards. They found a cool tasting room space in one of the many San Diego County office parks. This is a place where the only hint of wineries operating is a little white sign on the side of Enterprise Street.
Vesper imports their grapes from McCormick Ranch, Highland Hills, and Orfila Vineyards. These are all San Diego County vineyards. This allows Vesper to keep things local. It also allows them to make a wide variety of wines that reflect the local terroir and vibe.
That vibe is one hundred percent relaxed. They share that vibe in the tasting room they share with Stehleon winery. There is a lot of seating space, and they have windows looking into the winery operations.
They offer a growler of wine for the price of a bottle. The owners take time to staff the tasting room themselves. They make a point of providing unusual wines such as Carignan, which may be why the San Francisco Chronicle named them Winemakers to Watch of 2014.
There is a lot of fun stuff to do in San Diego. If you are a wine lover, wine tasting should be added to your list along with zoo visits and the beach! You can call them to make an appointment for a tasting as they are eager to accommodate you. Check them out whenever you are in San Diego.
