It's always a good time to visit Napa Valley, but the period after harvest and before spring travel season picks up may be the best. You can call this period the Napa "off season". As the crowds get smaller, the hotels and restaurants of Napa start offering their best deals of the year.

So what is Napa like in the "off-season" you ask? The wine tastes just as good. Almost all the Napa wineries remain open year round. Many of the wineries are decorated to celebrate the season. The hotel rooms are just as nice and the restaurants just as spectacular. The major difference is the weather. And it's certainly isn't frightful.
The Napa Valley is temperate year round. The months of December and January are the coldest with average highs between 55 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperatures drop into the high 30's at night. You can probably expect rain a few days out of the week, but mostly brilliant blue skies. As you move into the later part of the off-season, the temperatures climb back toward 70 degrees during the day.
Can you stand a daytime high of 55 degrees under blue skies in exchange for great deals and less waiting for your next glass of wine? I'm hoping that's a yes!
