Beginning in 1989, Sapphire Hill Vineyards and Winery established a reputation for serving their award-winning Chardonnays, Pinots, and Zinfandels. Sapphire Hill Winery continues to focus on varietals from small unique vineyards – many times, only bottling as little as 48 cases of a particular wine. They pride themselves on finding great grapes to make into great wine – only bottling wines that they are proud to serve to their family and friends. At Sapphire Hill Winery, they offer a 5-course food and wine pairing, which takes place in their private barrel room. Guests can also choose to have a tasting at the bar where they can sample small production wines and seasonally available bites like caramel popcorn with their Russian River Chardonnay.
Seghesio Family Vineyards | 700 Grove Street, Healdsburg, CA 95448
This winery provides an important link to the history of winemaking and grape growing in Sonoma County. The Seghesio's were immigrants. They brought their winemaking knowledge from the "old country" and established a winery before prohibition. The family persisted even after prohibition stopped most winemaking operations in the United States. With over a century to perfect their craft, Seghesio offers some of the best Zinfandel in America. This organic winery and vineyard offers visitors a perfect blend of highly rated wines and a beautifully appointed tasting room. The winery produces some big and bold Cabs, which you don't get as much of in Sonoma as you do in Napa. They also have a red estate blend that Wine Advocate rated a 92.
